About the radio station Cam FM

Cam FM is a student-run radio station serving the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, England.

It originally launched in February 1979 as Cambridge University Radio and later became known as CUR1350. The station developed its online listening in the late 1990s and later held a long-term low-powered AM licence, broadcasting as CUR1350.

In March 2009 it was awarded an FM community licence by Ofcom, rebranded as Cam FM, and began regular FM programming on 97.2 FM in October 2010.

Today it broadcasts on 97.2 FM in Cambridge and is also available via online streaming.

Programming & Music

Cam FM is mostly focused on rap, hip hop and pop, mixed with talk-led content that can range from entertainment and culture to student life and local interests.

You can expect a fast-moving sound that suits commuting, studying, or having something on in the background that still feels fresh.

Music segments tend to keep the energy up, while speech-led shows add personality and variety, so it never feels like the same playlist on repeat.

If you want a modern student station with both music and conversation, Cam FM live fits that balance well.

Shows

Cam FM runs a broad schedule with music shows and talk formats across the week. Examples include Chatterbox (comedy), After Full Time (sport), The Chill Pill (chilled selections), and Power Hour (talk and music).

The line-up changes regularly, so it is easy to drop in and discover something new, whether you want a chatty programme or a music-led hour. Tune in to Cam FM live at different times of day to catch different styles and presenters.
